Win 2000
Well I finally made the upgrade form NT 4.0 to win 2000 pro. I must say I'm impressed. I was a little hesitant in making the upgrade, because I heard so much bad press when it first came out, but so far it's been running fine.

It opens up more doors as far as running other software. NT 4.0 was just too picky as to what you could run and what you can't

Cheers

I realy like Win2K I almost never have any problems and my computer is on 24hrs a day and 7 days a week. unlike Win 98 wich would crash every few hours.

My main problem with 2k is that it's bootup is slow thanx to the modified HOSTS file (stops ads from showing so I just get a red x in banners and stuff like that) and that I have to run my memory at CAS2.5 if I want to keep a stable system w/ a FSB of 150. Didn't have these problems with XP but XP just keeps ticking me off w/ other probs that I don't have w/ 2k.

You want slow trip lol you should run NT 4.0 wow sloooooow but stable. I ran that for 2 years befor I upgraded to win 2000 pro.

I find the boot up not to bad considering what I had befor.

My next PC will have XP pro on it. By that time any and all bugs should be worked out of it.

Cheers

JMD, my boot time was fine but then added a bunch of ad sites to my HOSTS file so they wouldn't show while Im surfind and it increased my boot time to about 5 minutes. Well maybe not that long but it seems like forever to a computer nerd like me.

I'm a big Windows 2000 Pro fan.

What do you think of XP Pro which MS is saying is the replacement for Win2K. We've got it at work and it seems to be just too bloated with lots of frills. The boot time is quicker in XP Pro, but as my computer is on 24 hours a day that doesn't really matter to me.

Linux is too ugly for me.

Kali there are ways to get XP like 2k. I find XP to be more stable than 2k.
