Read the book > > saw the movie. Movies was kinda slow, deffinately a chic flick. Book was better IMO.

I just got the book from the library...

Also got "Welcome To The World, Baby Girl"..Fannie Flagg. She wrote Fried Green Tomatoes. I enjoyed that movie.

Oh crumbs.. someone just gave me Oprahs new book from the club Anna Karenina. Oprah always wanted to read it, but was afraid to .. if she was afraid .. I'm terrifed lol
'cuse any spelling mistakes.. i'm gett groggy & tired from doing a hell of a lot of nuffin! lol

I read that when I was in my 20s (I went through a Russian phase...lol)..it's a classic, great read. Why would she be afraid to read it??

I just finished (yesterday) The Bean Trees...Barbara Kingsolver . It is her first book and was pretty good. She is also on Oprah's list...The Poisonwood Bible. Have you read that?

We should really have a thread 'Oprah's Bookclub Books'...lol

It's a classic love story, tragedy (on all the must read 'literature' lists), ..not an 'easy' read in that it has the Russian names, etc...but certainly no worse than anything you've read before. I think Oprah is trying to act all 'intellectual'..lolol

I found a site called Sparks Notes...Literature Study Guides. Anna Karenina is there, so is The Bean Trees I mentioned. Anyway, it picks apart the book, states quotes and explains them and so on. Maybe you want to take a peek. I'm going to go see what it says about Bean Trees.

Oh, two more Russian novels I've read on on the first page..Ayn Rand..Atlas Shrugged and Anthem. Now, those were hard to read...lol They taught me a lot about Russian life, though. Not at all like Anna Karenina. These are more 'revolutionary'...citizens unite and all that stuff...lol
