I had IBM DTTA 16.8Gig hard drive for a while and that's also the first drive to get the magic touch of XP including all betas on any of my computers.

About three weeks ago, I decided that I need more room and bought a nice 80Gig Seagate Barracude ATA100 drive. After installing XP on it I had some weird drive letter assignment.

My Previous config with IBM DTTA:

A: Floppy
C: IBM, Primary Master, primary partition
D: IBM, Primary Master, logical partition
E: DVD-ROM, Primary Slave
F: CDR, Secondary Master.

I just took the IBM drive out. But didn't place the new drive in the same place (primary master), since Asus Motherboards have two separate slots for ATA/100 drives.

Here is my config now:

A: Floppy
C: Seagate, ATA/100, primary partition (not on regular IDE channel)
D: DVD-ROM, primary slave (no primary master present)
E: CDR, secondary master
F: Seagate, ATA/100, logical partition 1
G: Seagate, ATA/100, logical partiton 2
H: Seagete , ATA/100, logical partition 3

Also I've the following screen capture for you to look at:

My question: Why are my removable drive stuck in the middle? If and how can I move them to the end of the list?

It's not too important but hell of a lot annoying, plus I had to move Apache, PHP, MyQL to the C: partition becuase of this.

P.S. Using [ IMG] tag doesn't show the image, just a link to it.

You change the drive letter associations by using the help feature in XP:

click START, click HELP AND SUPPORT, in the search options in the upper left hand corner, type "change drive letter". The result will tell you how to change a drive letter, remove a drive letter, assign a drive letter, counterfeit a drive letter, misspell a drive letter, mutilate a drive letter, etc. etc. etc.

Hope that works. Now off to figure out why img tags arn't working

Ok got the img tags sorted out. Had allow bb image code in posts set to off. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yup both work, drive letters and [ IMG] tag. :D
