I really don't know what this is, but thought I'd pass it on incase anyone else sees it in their computer as well.

I was in my Add/Remove Programs & saw this thing call "My Way Speedbar".. obviously some sort of spam I've gotten somewhere.

I don't need it so decided to remove it & got the attached Norton alert pop-up.

I quarentined it.. thought I'd suggest you check your Add/Remove Programs to see if you have it.

Yeah, I saw that.. there's a link in the Add/Remove program area to see that site.

AFAIC Whatever it's purpose, it's not friendly.

So, I've since found out this is what it is:

Pest Name:My Way Speedbar
Category:Browser Helper Object. (BHO).
A component that Internet Explorer will load whenever it starts, shares IE's memory context, can perform any action on the available windows and modules. A BHO can detect events, create windows to display additional information on a viewed page, monitor messages and actions. Microsoft calls it "a spy we send to infiltrate the browser's land." There are many exploits of this technology which search all pages you view in IE and replace banner advertisements with other ads, monitor and report on your actions, etc.

Release Date:1/1/2003 (estimated)
Author:MyWay.com

I don't know.. a while ago, I had this terrible mp3 program called Groxster.. man is that full of ads & crap! But, it worked really great .. I guess cuz of all the spam you had to put up with from it.

I could have gotten it there.. I have no idea.

What I don't understand is why it pops up as a malicious script when trying to remove it.

I have a script for MSN that I use once in awhile..Norton warns me everytime, but there is no harm really..just a thing that Norton has in its watch list..scripts are capable, but not always malicious
