Are making a noise again at boot up
I just finished backing up more data, about a gigs worth just incase.
I may need that Dell credit card sooner than I thought LOL
Just a couple of questions.
Are notebooks as powerful as your standard computer??
What I mean is, is a 2.6 gig notebook equal in power to a 2.6 gig home computer, also if a notebook comes with a 64 meg ATI is that card as fast as the one on a home computer?
I was debating (if my computer goes) on weather to replace the home computer with a notebook and when its at home hooking it up to my big monitor for doing cad a and graphics, but also being able to take it on the road.
I think you get the best of both worlds, you have mobility, and you can use it as your home computer.
Any thought on this would be appreciated

My two cents (which may only be worth 1).
The notebook will be as powerful, depending on what processor speed and RAM you choose. I'm wondering though, if 64MB video is enough for you. Wouldn't you benefit from a bigger video card??
Overall, a notebook is probably a good choice for you now. :) Have you been looking? Which one do you have your eye on??

Well I have been browsing. The thing about note books also I have software I could load onto it that I could use at work, and most probably the company I work for wont have it.
A 64 meg video card should be good enough if it’s a fast card and is housed in a fast motherboard.
This old 500 I’m on right now just isn’t cutting it lol all it’s good for is word and PowerPoint.
If things work out at Toyota in Cambridge I will buy the top of the line Dell or close to the top of the line lol

Holy Cow...I hope that works out. You can take me for lunch then... :nce3
This is looking very good for me..lmaooo
(back to reality)...A notebook is definately a good idea for you, I think. It will be tough making a choice, though. Go with the best, I'd say. Don't penny pinch on a notebook. :)

LOL LOL
Well I have a cousin who is the general manager of health and safety for the plant, and he told me to give him a call when I’m finished and he would put the word in for me.
He said they are starving for people who do what I do, so I hope they are still hungry a month from now lol
He said they are brining the Lexus and several other models in that plant (this is why they are expanding it to 3.5 million sq feet and more)
Anyway I will believe it when it happens lol I never count on anything. If I get the job I will be moving your way.
And yes I would get the top of the line workstation notebook, it would set me back 5 grand but it will be a write off.
The project I’m working on for the last week is designing a pulley and gear system including the shaft and bearings. This is a mother of a project and it will go on my site when I’m done, along with the crane system I designed.
This will look good for when Toyota and other companies look at it. My professionally done resume should be done this week.

Oh ya...you gotta come around more..:p My move has been delayed due to the fact that my son doesn't want to move now that he is 17 and going into Grade 12. So, for now, I commute once a week or so. Eventually I will move there. I'm not sure how the winter will go yet...I take it on a per trip basis  Gets a little tough to do any planning though..yeesh
