I just installed a Linksys 4 port router to a small network, 3 comps and everything is working great. My question is, I read in other post people saying they went in and made port changes and viewed the config files etc in the Router but I have no software for the router except the install CD that came with it and I can't find anything on LInksys website to suggest there is software to play around with settings etc. i know they have firmware updates but nothing else I can find. Someone else mentioned going here 192.168.1.1/ but I have no idea what that IP address does. :confused: Any help would be appreciated. :)
Open your browser (Internet Explorer)
Type in 192.168.1.1 (Thats the default address of your router on your network)
Login - blank
Password - admin (You can change that once inside)
This gets you into the settings available for your router.
Linksys routers are easy to play around with. Lots of help available in there too

I have that same router. Was easy to set up. Been set now for a few years with no further messing around. Do as Jim says. As I recall there wasn't much that I changed. I had to set a port for gaming, the DMZ (??) zone...198.162.1.110. Then in Network Settings on the computer, the gateway is 198.162.1.1 . Congratulations on getting connected...lololol :cool:

Thanks navigator, we just bought our third Dell and now the house is happy, Mary and I share this one but I am bigger so I get it more often ;)
Setting up the network was a breeze although I used the Network wizard in XP, not Linksys. All 3 comps have XP home on them so it was very easy. Thanks for the tip for gaming, might come in handy one day. :D
