Messenger allows (or used to) that you could use any email address as your msn ID. Didn't HAVE to be @hotmail.com

So my kids were signed up with their isp email address which will be changing.

I am trying to either change/convert their current ID to the new one (which is, again, NOT @hotmail)

and/or

Trying to get the messenger to let me use an alternate email.

Anyone recall how to do this?
