I've never used ME, but a co-worker is trying to speed up their computer a bit .. it's slowed down some. I think they got RegSupreme & ran that... it helped. TweekXP is a good site for XP lol.. anyone know of a TweekME site? Or any tips/tricks for that OS?

Click start/run, type in msconfig, click on the Boot.INI tab at the top, change the timeout value to 3. That will knock off almost 30 seconds of boot time.

If this person is comfortable with entering the BIOS, enter the first screen, and write down all the values for the hard drives, then change them to user define and enter the values previously recorded. Find the BIOS screen where the boot device order is listed, and eliminate all but the hard drive with Windows on it from that list(change floppy, cd-rom, extra hard drives to disable) Also disable the boot-floppy seek option.(note that this will have to be changed back, should they want to format, as they'll need the boot-floppy seek option enabled and floppy as first boot device).

All of this will knock off as much as a minute worth of boot time(works for most Windows operating systems, FYI)

Here's one of the best sites for perking up ME I've come accross, as well.

No...all you're doing is changing how long the Welcome to Windows screen shows during boot up.
